There is something personal, charming and really quite irresistable about handmade jewellery and this is at the heart of what Soriko is all about. Jewellery doesn't have to be just about accessorizing an outfit - in fact I find jewellery can be a real pick-me-up (both the making and the wearing!) Jewellery can make you feel so many things: it can take you back to a childhood memory or make you hopeful of the future; it can make you feel sexy and confident and; it can make you smile and giggle with glee. With handmade jewellery you also get that little something extra: a piece that is unique, full of character and made with the utmost care.
As the creator of Soriko Jewellery, I take inspiration from a wide variety of influences. When it comes to fashion and style, I know what I like and what I don't and tend to make jewellery that I myself would want to wear. I like to experiment with different materials and enjoy creating contrast between colours, textures and finishes.
While I like lots of different things, I can't help but to be drawn to certain things more than others. You will be able to see this in the current collection. I adore antique metals coupled with fabrics and beads in soft muted colours and love my jewellery to be romantic, ethereal even. I like elegant pieces that are both feminine and unusual in their make-up and as I also have a quirky side, I do try to incorporate a little child-like charm if I can get away with it.
This blog is dedicated to all things Soriko. I am constantly learning new creative techniques and innovating what I already know. Alas there are never enough hours in the day to create everything and my list of things-to-learn-and-do is forever increasing. I am comforted by the fact that I am always working on something so new Soriko items should never be far behind.
